MAN INJURED WHEN DRAG CAR EXPLODES AT ROUTE 66 CAR SHOW IN WILLIAMS

A man in his 70s was injured when the motor in his drag car exploded as he tried to start the car sending metal shrapnel flying. One or more pieces of metal hit the man causing deep wounds to his arms.

Williams Police and Fire personnel arrived quickly and applied a tourniquet to one of the mans arms to slow the bleeding. The man was then loaded into an ambulance and taken to the Williams Fire station on Rodeo Road where he was transferred to an awaiting helicopter air ambulance for transport to a trauma center.

No one else appears to have been injured by the explosion which was heard throughout the downtown area and beyond.
